Incredible Reggae & Hip Hop to Kick Off High Grade Gala Nov. 21

The 1st annual Humboldt High Grade Harvest Gala is launching it’s two-day event with a stellar lineup of reggae and hip hop artists. Alborosie and the Shengen Clan are definitely a Humboldt favorite and they’ll bring their reggae vibes to the Mateel on opening night. Internationally respected as a reggae artist, Alborosie’s energetic performance in the heart of the Emerald Triangle is one that shouldn’t be missed.

Not familiar with Alborosie's style? Check out the video from Summerjam Festival 2013:

The hopeful lyrics and eclectic beats of Jah Sun will also grace the Mateel’s stage on Friday, November 21. Music was his “salvation” and his upbeat musical style always gets an audience moving. Bob Marley remains a strong influence on Jah Sun’s music and worldview, but he draws inspiration from many other styles to create a sound all his own.

Get a taste of Jah Sun’s message and style in this video for “Never Give Up.” His positivity just overflows in this song -- It’s guaranteed to lift your spirits.

We’re also excited to welcome Peetah Morgan, the distinctive vocalist from Morgan Heritage. In his solo career, Peetah performs in musical genres from reggae to R&B, but you can usually hear his strong reggae roots come through. Inspirational songwriter and activist Jah9 will also bring her own unique infusion of blues/poetry/reggae and captivating energy to the Gala.

Renowned reggae and hip-hop artists will bring their sounds together to help us celebrate the 2014 harvest. Bobby Hustle is definitely ready. This rising reggae star will share some of his worldwide hits like “Kush Morning” and “Weed Like Mine” on the Mateel stage.

Veterans of the reggae outfit Gumption Band known as iKronik will bring together their distinctive vocal styles to the Gala -- they craft their verses carefully to take advantage of their individual and combined lyrical strengths for an unbelievable chemistry. Original roots reggae band The Dubbadubs will be sharing their inspired style in their home turf in the Emerald Triangle.

And that’s all just the music acts for the first night! Check out the whole Line Up for both days.
